The commonest confusion about Dinajpur is a naming one. The Dinajpur Education Board and Dinajpur district are not the same thing — the board is made up of eight northern districts, including Rangpur, Kurigram, Nilphamari, Panchagarh, Thakurgaon, Lalmonirhat and Gaibandha.

So people searching for “Dinajpur board colleges” end up looking at institutions that are actually in another district, hours away. A college’s name does not tell you which district it is in, and for the question of a daily commute the district is the single most important fact.

The second feature is how the district is distributed. A large share of Dinajpur’s roster sits at upazila level — Birganj, Fulbari, Parbatipur, Birol, Khansama. There are far fewer established institutions inside the town, and the whole district’s demand concentrates on those few.

Class XI admission 2026-27 — every phase and its date

About 995,230 students applied in phase 1; 980,815 were placed on the merit list and 14,415 got no college at all — 2,205 of them with a GPA of 5. After migration 853,441 were finally selected against 2,601,779 seats, so the students left out were short of a well-built choice list, not of seats.

If you got no college in phase 1, or did not confirm, phase 2 is your chance: applications run from 27 September 2026 (Sunday) to 28 September 2026, 8:00 PM. A phase-1 applicant who was not selected anywhere applies free this time.
