Medical Admission 2026-27: MBBS and BDS Test on 4 December (Tentative)

The MBBS and BDS admission tests for 2026-27 fall on the same day, tentatively 4 December 2026 — the Director General of Health Education said so on 16 September. He attached a condition: the date holds only if HSC results are out by mid-October. The question pattern and mark split were to be settled within one to two weeks.
The circular, application fee, minimum GPA and seat count have not been announced, so the eligibility, marks and seats below are 2025-26 figures. Last year 122,632 candidates applied for 13,051 seats; 66.57% passed, but only a small fraction of them found a place in a government college.

Why 4 December could still move
The Director General’s condition was an HSC result by mid-October. Several reports, however, place the HSC 2026 result between 7 and 15 November — the education boards have not confirmed this. If the result really lands in November, less than three weeks would remain for applications, verification and admit cards, so a postponement cannot be ruled out.
The practical advice: plan your revision around 4 December, and treat any delay as extra revision time rather than a reason to slow down. In 2025-26 only 32 days separated the notice from the test.
Who could apply (2025-26)
If the rule carries over, each pass year moves forward by one for 2026-27 — the circular will confirm it.
- A combined SSC and HSC GPA of at least 8.50 — lowered from 9.00 the year before.
- Neither exam below GPA 4.00, and at least grade point 3.50 in HSC biology.
- Tribal and hill-district candidates: 8.00 in total, with at least 3.50 in each.
- HSC in 2024 or 2025, and SSC in 2022 or later.
The paper and the merit score (2025-26)
One hundred MCQs, 0.25 off for each wrong answer, a pass mark of 40. The final rank is out of 200: SSC GPA × 8 (up to 40), HSC GPA × 12 (up to 60) and the test’s 100. A candidate who passed HSC the previous year loses 3 points, and one who was earlier admitted to a government medical or dental college loses 5.
Most serious candidates bring near-identical GPA points, so the test’s hundred marks decide the order — above all the 55 biology and chemistry questions. If this year’s pattern changes, so will this split.
