At City College the two shifts of the same group do not share a threshold, and that gap is the most useful fact this year. In Science a 4.00 is enough to apply to the morning shift while the day shift asks for 4.50; in Business Studies and Humanities the day shift sits a quarter-point above the morning. Bangla and English versions carry the same bar, although the Humanities list names only the Bangla version.
By demand the college sits at the very top. Dainik Shiksha's analysis of 20 September counted 28,180 applications to City College — one of the three highest in the country, with only Adamjee and Ananda Mohan College in Mymensingh drawing slightly more. The same report puts its seats at 4,280, whereas Prothom Alo had earlier printed 4,400; we could not settle which is right against a notice from the college itself, so both are shown.

This is the minimum to apply, not a guarantee of a seat — when applications outnumber seats, the real cut-off lands above it.
Morning or day — which shift to rank first
The two shifts are two separate entries on your list, with two separate merit lists. In Science, a GPA between 4.00 and 4.49 does not qualify you for the day shift at all — listing it only burns a choice. From 4.50 upward both are open to you.
Which one goes first should depend on the hours you can actually attend, not on the threshold. Dhanmondi's morning traffic and its midday traffic are different animals; making the trip once at each time settles the question quickly.
