The Arts & Social Science unit at Dhaka Central University (DCU) is one of its two big intakes — 4,498 seats across ten subjects in the first admission cycle. No 2026-27 application or test date has been announced; everything below is from the 2025-26 session, whose test ran on 11 July 2026.
Competition was far lighter than at the big public universities: 23,365 applied, roughly five per seat, and about 90% turned up. The test was a 100-mark MCQ, half of it general knowledge.

Marks and pass rules (2025-26)
Each wrong answer cost 0.25. A pass needed 40 overall plus at least 5 in the part tied to your chosen subject — the English section for the English department, for example. Clearing 40 therefore does not open a subject if you fell below 5 in its linked part.

The ten subjects
Subjects are allotted after results by combining merit rank with your preference list, and the allotment also settles which college you study at. Last cycle that ran from 14 July to 6 August. We have no verified seat figure per subject.
- Arts: Bangla, English, Arabic, History, Philosophy, Islamic Studies.
- Social science: Economics, Political Science, Sociology, Social Work.
How last cycle’s test day went
Desh Rupantor reported that rain delayed the 11 July start by twenty minutes, and the result followed at 9 PM the next day — in barely a day. If the next test also falls in the July monsoon, build extra travel time into your plan.
The 50 GK marks decide this unit. Bangladesh affairs, international events and current news pay off most with half an hour of newspaper reading a day and one 50-question mock each week.
