Jagannath University Admission 2026-27: Five Unit Tests 1–23 January, Applications from 15 November

Jagannath University (JnU) holds its 2026-27 admission tests in five units on five separate days: A (Science plus Life & Earth Science) on 1 January 2027, E (Fine Arts) on 8 January, B (Arts & Law) on 15 January, C (Business Studies) on 22 January and D (Social Science) on 23 January. Every test runs 10 to 11 AM as MCQ, with Dhaka as the only centre.

Online applications open at noon on 15 November 2026 and close at 11:59 PM on 10 December. Only candidates with HSC 2026 and SSC 2023 or 2024 may apply — there is no second attempt. The minimum GPAs are lower than last year’s, and the first day of classes is already fixed: 4 April 2027.

Minimum GPA — this year against last

Every unit except C has cut its combined floor by half a point. A lower bar also means more applicants, and last year already brought close to two hundred thousand applications for 2,815 seats.

Test format (2025-26 structure)

In 2025-26 JnU dropped the written part and made the whole test MCQ: 96 questions in an hour at 0.75 marks each for 72, plus 10 from SSC GPA and 18 from HSC GPA — 100 in all. The fine arts paper ran for ninety minutes.

Last year’s reports contradict each other on negative marking: The Daily Campus and the Business faculty dean said there would be none, while BSS reported 0.25 per wrong answer. Treat it as disputed until the 2026-27 circular settles it.

Last year’s competition

Once applications closed the total reached 199,954 — about 71 per seat across 2,815 places. Late applications lifted the A unit to 72,474 and the B unit to 79,807. One report gives the A unit 860 seats rather than 840.

What changed this year

For students outside Dhaka that is the biggest shift: sitting several units means several trips to Dhaka in January. Arrange somewhere to stay early, and allow for Old Dhaka traffic by reaching the centre at least an hour ahead.

• Dhaka is the only centre — last year Rajshahi, Khulna and Cumilla hosted centres too.
• No second-timers: HSC 2026 only.
• Lower GPA floors in four units.
• A separate day for each unit, every test in the morning.
