JU C Unit Admission 2026-27: Arts, Humanities and Law

JU's C unit takes in the Faculty of Arts & Humanities, the Faculty of Law and the Institute of Comparative Literature & Culture. In 2025-26 it opened JU's whole admission season, on 21 December. For 2026-27 tests are planned from 17 January 2027, but C's own day has not been named.
Its 466 places drew 47,497 applications in 2025-26, about 102 per seat. Half the 80 marks — 40 — come from general knowledge and subject-related questions, so reading beyond the textbook is what decides it.

Marks: half from knowledge and subject questions
Subject-related means the basic ideas of the fields you are aiming at — history, philosophy, archaeology, international relations, media or law. Don’t stop at Bangladesh affairs; read introductory books or essays in those fields as well.

The departments, and law’s new home
Law was in unit B in 2023-24 and was moved to C by 2025-26. A student who wants both law and English can now compete for both in one sitting — and applying to B in the hope of law no longer helps.

GPA floor
For 2025-26: science 8.50 combined, humanities and business 7.50, with a 3.50 minimum in each exam for all. Any change for 2026-27 comes from the Academic Council.
A reading list for unit C
- Read one Bangla and one English editorial a day and write the main argument in a line.
- Keep lists of Bangla authors and works and of the major English writers; revise them twice a week.
- If law is the goal, know the constitution’s fundamental-rights chapter and the structure of the courts.
