Jagannath University (JnU): Admission and Its Own Test

Jagannath University (JnU) is a public university near Sadarghat in Old Dhaka — for many students a place to study in the heart of Dhaka puts it high on the list. Since 2024-25 JnU has left the GST cluster and sets its own test.

The 2026-27 tests run from 1 to 23 January 2027 in five units; the dates are detailed on the year page. This page keeps what does not change from year to year: the effect of being outside the cluster, common application slips, and how JnU fits with the other Dhaka universities.

JnU outside the cluster

According to bdnews24, Jagannath, SUST, Khulna and Comilla universities left the cluster for the 2024-25 session. For JnU the practical meaning is that a cluster application no longer reaches any JnU seat, JnU keeps its own merit list, and it tests at its own time — January for 2026-27, well ahead of the cluster’s March.

Common application slips

• Applying to the cluster and assuming JnU is included.
• Applying to the wrong unit without reading its terms — rules for switching streams differ.
• Missing the admit-card deadline — easy to do amid several Dhaka tests.

JnU among the Dhaka universities

For study in Dhaka, DU’s December units and JnU and Jahangirnagar in January are the main public options, with Bangladesh Maritime University in Mirpur for a specialised degree. JnU tests after DU, so the DU experience carries over.
