JU admission 2026-27: start date, centres and pending decisions.

Jahangirnagar University Admission 2026-27: Tests from 17 January, No Divisional Centres

Jahangirnagar University (JU) plans to begin its 2026-27 admission tests on 17 January 2027. The big change is the venue: divisional-city centres are dropped, which means the tests return to the campus.

How many units there will be, which sits when, and what the paper looks like are for the Academic Council to decide, and as of 23 September it had not. The start date is therefore the only firm fact on this page; the rest is planning.

No divisional centres — what it means for you

A candidate from outside Dhaka will now have to come to the JU campus at Savar. Applying to several units means arranging a stay of several days, and on test mornings the traffic on the Dhaka–Aricha highway needs a margin. It is worth lining up a place to stay with relatives or friends now.

Holding the tests on campus has one possible upside: with papers and scripts handled in one place, results could come faster. That is our reading, not the university’s statement.

What to look for when the Academic Council decides

  • The number and names of units — whether last year’s structure survives.
  • Which unit sits on which day — and how many days after 17 January the tests run.
  • Whether a written section joins the MCQ, and the negative marking.
  • Whether second-timers may apply, and the minimum GPA.

The other tests around mid-January

The day before JU starts, 16 January, is Rajshahi University’s proposed humanities unit. Jagannath University tests within 1–23 January, and CUET on 23 January. As soon as JU publishes its unit days, check them against these — and if two land on one day, decide your priority in advance.
