DU Fine Arts Unit Admission 2026-27: Drawing Test on 22 December

Most of the marks in DU's Fine Arts Unit are drawn by hand: the 22 December 2026 test gives 40 MCQ marks in 30 minutes, then a full hour for 60 marks of drawing. It is held in Dhaka only, and the GPA bar is the same for every stream — 6.50 across SSC and HSC, with 3.00 in each.
In 2025-26, 6,521 applied for just 130 seats; 602 passed, 457 of them women. The low GPA bar is not a sign that it is easy — the selection happens on the drawing sheet.

The structure of the test
The MCQ part usually covers Bangla, English, general knowledge and questions on the arts. The drawing task usually describes a scene or object to draw — composed from imagination, with proportion and light and shade handled correctly.

Preparing the drawing
- One complete sketch a day in 45–60 minutes, timed — finishing inside the limit matters most.
- Practise figures, trees, buildings and rural scenes separately; test prompts combine them.
- Learn to show depth with pencil shading — it is what brings a drawing to life without colour.
- Show your work to a teacher once a week; drawing alone repeats the same mistakes.
Subjects in the Faculty of Fine Arts
Seats are allotted by merit across departments such as drawing and painting, graphic design, printmaking, oriental art, sculpture, ceramics, crafts and the history of art. Graphic design is the most sought after, because advertising and digital media hire from it.
