DU's largest unit by seats — Arts, Law and Social Science ('Kha unit' of old, 'B unit' in English reporting) — sits its 2026-27 test on 19 December 2026, 11 AM to 12:30 PM. The former 'Gha unit' (social science) was merged into it from 2022-23, so this is also the test for law, economics, international relations or mass communication.
Science, humanities and business students all sit this unit, with seats set aside for each stream. Of the 7,553 who passed in 2025-26, 2,981 came from science — this is not a humanities-only unit.

Marks and the pass mark
Under the 2025-26 rules a pass needed at least 24 in MCQ, 12 in the written part and 40 out of 100 overall, with 0.25 deducted per wrong MCQ. The 30 general-knowledge marks are where rankings separate — most candidates score close together in Bangla and English, and the gap opens on current affairs and Bangladesh affairs.

Preparing for this unit
- For the 40 written marks in Bangla and English, practise translation, sentence correction and short compositions — a strong MCQ score fails if the written part falls below 12.
- For general knowledge, build a list of the past 12 months of national and world events; Bangladesh history and the constitution recur in past papers.
- With negative marking in play, build the habit of skipping uncertain questions during mock tests, not on the day.
The 2025-26 competition
Last year 107,712 applied, 103,611 sat and 7,553 passed — 7.29%. Of those who passed, 4,109 were from humanities, 2,981 from science and 463 from business. The test was on 13 December 2025 and the result came on 20 January 2026.
