Dhaka University's Science Unit — 'Ka unit' by its old name, 'A unit' in English-language reporting — holds its 2026-27 admission test on 12 December 2026, 11 AM to 12:30 PM: 60 marks of MCQ in 45 minutes, then 40 written marks in 45, plus 20 marks from SSC and HSC results.
The big change this year: English-medium students will sit a separate question paper in the Science Unit, approved by the syndicate on 31 August 2026. The Business Studies Unit already did this.

Minimum GPA to apply
Humanities and business students can sit the Science Unit too — of the 7,621 who passed in 2025-26, 300 were from humanities and 109 from business — but the seats open to them are few. How the paper is set
On the 2025-26 pattern the MCQ draws on physics, chemistry, maths and biology, with Bangla or English allowed in place of the HSC fourth subject; the written part carries 10 marks per subject. Each wrong MCQ costs 0.25 marks. Confirm the subject-choice rule in this year's circular — sources describe it differently.
The English-medium paper keeps 60 MCQ marks (compulsory English plus subjects) and 40 written marks covering translation, error correction and subject questions.
How hard it was last year
More than 60 applicants per seat, and fewer than 8 in every 100 who sat the test passed. Passing is not admission — subjects are allotted by merit rank afterwards, and the seats run out long before the list of passes does.
In 2025-26 the test moved from 20 to 27 December. Date changes are usually announced two or three weeks ahead, so keep checking the portal in the final month.

Where the Science Unit leads
The Science Unit merit list allots subjects across the faculties of science, biological sciences, engineering and technology, pharmacy, and earth and environmental sciences. Computer science, electrical engineering, pharmacy and applied statistics usually fill within the front of the merit list — so be realistic about your rank before ordering your subject choices.
