JnU E Unit Admission 2026-27: Fine Arts Test on 8 January

The E unit is the gateway to JnU’s Faculty of Fine Arts. Its 2026-27 test falls on 8 January 2027, 10 to 11 AM — JnU’s second test, a week after the A unit. The GPA floor is the lowest at the university: 5.5 combined, 2.5 in each exam.

Seats are scarce — 60 last year across three departments, 20 in each. There were 1,057 applicants, about 17 or 18 per place. The pool is small, but the people in it usually arrive with a drawing portfolio behind them.

Three departments, 60 seats

The per-department split is an admission aggregator’s; its total of 60 agrees with The Daily Campus’s unit figure.

The test format — what is known and what is not

While the other units sat a one-hour MCQ last year, the E unit ran for ninety minutes, and in the afternoon rather than the morning. Whether that extra half hour held a drawing or practical component is not confirmed in the sources we verified. The 2026-27 announcement lists 10 to 11 AM, which suggests the length may change too.

So prepare on both fronts: MCQ on art history, Bangladeshi artists and general knowledge, and timed pencil-sketch practice. If the circular includes a practical, it will list the materials to bring.

Who should apply

The low GPA bar opens fine arts to students from any stream, but twenty seats per department means thinking past admission too — printmaking and sculpture are heavily studio-based. DU’s fine arts test is on 22 December and JnU’s about two and a half weeks later, so there is time to sit both.
