JU C1 Unit Admission 2026-27: Drama and Fine Arts

JU's C1 unit serves two arts departments: Drama & Dramatics and Fine Arts. It starts with an 80-mark written MCQ, and a practical follows for those who get through. No 2026-27 date yet; JU plans to begin testing on 17 January 2027.
There are just 64 places. In 2025-26, 3,725 people applied, about 58 per seat — sharp for an arts unit. Half the written marks are subject questions, so general preparation without some theatre or art history will not carry you far.

Marks in the written part
The language sections are half the size of unit C’s, 10 each, and subject questions take the space. For drama, know the major Bangla and world playwrights and plays; for fine arts, the artists, movements and Bangladesh’s own art history.

The practical
In 2025-26 a practical followed the written test. Its dates appeared only on aggregator sites, so we leave them out; JU's result notice carries the practical's timing and instructions. Fine-arts candidates should keep drawing practice going, and drama candidates should have a short acting or recitation piece ready.
Seats, GPA and fee
In 2023-24 the split was 28 in drama and 36 in fine arts, 64 in all — and 2025-26 also totalled 64. The GPA floor was 7.50 combined with at least 3.50 in each. The two papers disagree on the fee: Prothom Alo says BDT 600, Ittefaq 700; we show Prothom Alo’s figure, plus the 1.2% service charge.

Preparation priorities
- Keep a notebook for the 40 subject marks: playwrights, plays, artists, works, dates.
- For the 20 GK marks, include recent cultural news — awards, festivals, exhibitions.
- The practical comes soon after the written test, so arrange a few days near campus.
