BUP FMS Admission 2026-27: Faculty of Medical Studies Test on 8 January

BUP’s Faculty of Medical Studies (FMS) holds its 2026-27 test on 8 January 2027, alongside FST, FOE and FSSS. Beyond that, firm information on this faculty is thin, and we say so plainly: the official 2025-26 circular did not list the programmes under FMS, and it did not describe the test format.
What is certain: last year only science students could apply, with a combined SSC + HSC GPA of 9.00; the test ran on 17 January 2026; and FMS was one of three faculties that allowed calculators. This page builds its preparation advice on just that.

Preparing when the format is unknown
The rules BUP applies to every faculty are safe to assume here: 0.50 off per wrong MCQ, at least 40% in English, and a rank built from the test (55%), HSC marks (25%) and SSC marks (20%). The calculator allowance tells you there is arithmetic in the paper. So treat biology, chemistry, numerical physics and English as the foundation.
When the 2026-27 circular appears, look in the FMS section for two things first — which programme you would be entering, and the marks per subject. Do not pay the fee before you know both.
Compared with the MBBS route
The name "Medical Studies" should not lead you to treat FMS as a substitute for MBBS admission to government medical colleges. MBBS and BDS places are filled through a separate national test run by the health directorate, with its own date and rules — covered on our medical admission page. FMS is BUP’s own test: two separate applications, two separate merit lists.
Medical aspirants should also weigh FST on the same 8 January: its paper and programme — a BSc in Environmental Science with compulsory biology — are published. Decide between the two with both faculties’ sections of the circular side by side.
