CU B Unit Admission 2026-27: Arts & Humanities on 5 February

CU's B unit, for the Faculty of Arts & Humanities, sits on 5 February 2027 in Chattogram, Dhaka and Rajshahi. The paper has three parts — Bangla or optional English 30, English 30, general knowledge 40 — and each part has a minimum of its own.

Per seat, this is the toughest unit at CU: in 2025-26 around 69,288 candidates chased 690 places, roughly 100 for each. A candidate can clear 40 overall and still fail by dipping under one section’s floor — so repair your weakest section before polishing the strongest.

Three sections, three separate hurdles

The section floors look low, but after 0.25 is lost per wrong answer, reaching 6 in English is harder than it sounds. Choose between Bangla and optional English for the first section by your mock scores, not by instinct. English-medium candidates usually take the optional English; most others do better with Bangla.

GPA: a different floor for each stream

In 2025-26 humanities students needed a combined GPA of 6.5, down from 7.0, while science and commerce students needed 7.0. Switching streams into B is therefore allowed on a slightly stiffer condition. SSC 2022/2023 and HSC 2024/2025 candidates qualified, second-timers included.

Last year's coverage disagreed on the 20 GPA marks. On the day of the B unit test The Daily Campus said they were not being added; Prothom Alo had earlier described a 120-mark total. Do not assume either way before the 2026-27 circular.

Which subjects the B unit covers

Nine subjects of the Faculty of Arts & Humanities fill this unit, 690 seats in 2025-26. Drama, music and fine arts sit in the separate B1 sub-unit, and Arabic, Islamic Studies and Pali in B2 — to be considered for those, you apply to that sub-unit as well.

Putting the weight on the 40 GK marks

1. Half an hour a day on Bangladesh and world affairs; keep the last six months of news in a separate notebook.
2. To clear the English floor of 6, answer only what you know — no guessing.
3. Record all three section scores after every mock so a section drifting toward its floor is obvious.
4. B1 and B2 fall on 3 and 4 February; sitting those too means planning three days in Chattogram.
