The GST cluster’s 2026-27 season opens with the B unit: the humanities test sits on 19 March 2027, 11 AM to noon. Bangla, English and general knowledge carry all 100 marks between them, with no optional subjects to choose.
Passing is not the hard part here — roughly 60% of those who sat in 2025-26 cleared the line. The real contest is rank: thousands of candidates bunch within a few marks of each other, so each English mark and each correct general-knowledge answer decides whether you land your preferred university.

Subject-wise marks in the B unit
The split is as widely reported by guides and Wikipedia; check it against the cluster’s own circular. Bangla and English together are worth 70 marks, which makes grammar and literature in both languages the backbone of this unit, with general knowledge behind them.

Eligibility: who may apply
The latest verified GPA rule is from 2024-25: at least 3.00 in each of SSC and HSC and at least 6.00 in total — the lowest bar of the three units. In 2025-26 applicants needed SSC from 2021–23 and HSC from 2024–25, and second-time candidates were included.
Whether science or business students may apply to B, and which departments they could then enter, is something to read in the 2026-27 circular; our sources do not settle it.
Which departments B leads to
The B merit list fills arts, humanities, social-science and law-type departments across the member universities, each of which publishes its own departments and seats. We found no seat total we could verify, so we print none.

The result figures are from Somoyer Konthosor’s report of 6 April 2026; the application count is The Daily Campus’s. Even the best candidate scored 81.5 of 100, so there is no need to chase full marks — scoring 60 to 65 reliably already puts you in a strong position.

How to prepare for the B unit
- Bangla: spelling rules, compounds, case endings and the author facts of HSC prose and poetry — accurate recall here is reliable marks.
- English: vocabulary daily, and write down the rule behind each grammar question you miss — rank swings most on these 35 marks.
- General knowledge: the Liberation War, the constitution, geography, and current affairs right up to March — with the test on 19 March, do not skip January and February news.
- Timing: 100 marks in an hour, so clear the quick Bangla and English items first and leave uncertain general-knowledge questions blank.
