KU A Unit Admission 2026-27: Science & Engineering Test on 18 December

Khulna University’s A unit — the science, engineering and technology schools — sits its 2026-27 admission test on 18 December 2026, the same day as the life-science B unit. The time and the application window are not yet announced; the 24 August 2026 meeting fixed only the date.
Unlike most Bangladeshi universities, KU does not test by MCQ alone: a 60-mark MCQ section is followed by a 40-mark written section. In 2025-26, 38,961 candidates applied for the A unit’s 320 seats — about 122 per seat, the stiffest contest of KU’s four units.

Subject marks across MCQ and written
In 2025-26 each wrong MCQ cost 0.25. An admissions aggregator (admissionbd.org) reports that non-programmable calculators were permitted — treat that as aggregator information and confirm it on the admit card. Biology does not appear in this unit.
Architecture adds a 50-mark freehand drawing test on top, and the official 2024-25 notice charged an extra BDT 200 for it.

Eligibility and centres
Only science-stream students may apply, with a combined SSC and HSC GPA of at least 8.00. In 2025-26 the eligible batches were SSC 2022 or 2023 with HSC 2024 or 2025.
In 2025-26 the test ran at centres in Khulna, Dhaka, Rajshahi and Chattogram. With A and B on the same day again this year, watch for the timing announcement if you plan to sit both — last year A was in the morning and B in the afternoon.

The competition in numbers
Across all units KU drew 108,266 applications in 2025-26. BSS gives 1,109 seats in total, but the unit lists add to 1,104 — the prospectus will settle the five-seat gap. The A unit alone pulled in more than a third of all applications for just 320 seats.
Preparing with the written part in mind
- For maths, physics and chemistry, write out one full solution per chapter on paper — the 10 written marks reward shown steps.
- The MCQ half gives 45 minutes for 60 questions; build mental arithmetic speed even if a calculator is allowed.
- English 15 and ICT 10 make 25 marks together — engineering aspirants often neglect them, which is your chance.
- If architecture is on your list, do three freehand sketches a week for at least two months before December.
