JU D Unit Admission 2026-27: The Biological Sciences Faculty

JU's D unit feeds seven departments of the Faculty of Biological Sciences, and it is the hardest contest JU runs: in 2025-26, 70,220 people applied for 310 places — roughly 226 per seat. The 2026-27 test is in January 2027 on the Savar campus, day still to be fixed.

Biology alone carries 44 of the 80 marks, chemistry 24, and Bangla, English and intelligence only 4 each. The syllabus overlaps heavily with the medical admission test, so one preparation can serve both.

Biology is more than half the paper

Maths and physics do not appear. Questions can come from any chapter of both biology papers — botany and zoology — so textbook reading line by line matters. The test ran in nine shifts over two days in 2025-26; the questions differed by shift, the structure did not.

The seven departments

The seven departments shared 310 seats in 2025-26; we have not verified a per-department split. The popular departments fill from the top of the merit list — think through a realistic order of choices before the preference form opens.

GPA 9.00 — JU’s highest floor

In 2025-26 the D unit admitted science students only, with a combined GPA of 9.00 and at least 4.00 in each exam. That is above unit A’s 8.50, so a student between 8.50 and 9.00 could sit A but not D.

Coordinating with the medical test

1. Medical-test biology and chemistry carry over almost entirely — only the 4 intelligence marks need separate practice.
2. 80 questions in 55 minutes is tighter than the medical paper — drill 10-minute mini-sets for speed.
3. Revise diagram and classification chapters on their own; they supply many questions.
