CU D Unit Admission 2026-27: Social Science and Law on 6 February

CU's D unit sits on 6 February 2027 in Chattogram, Dhaka and Rajshahi. It is the most mixed unit CU has: nine Social Science departments, the Law faculty, the Institute of Education & Research, and two Biological Science departments — named in a 2024-25 report as Geography & Environmental Studies and Psychology.

In 2025-26 it offered 849 seats (842 in one report) to about 51,507 applicants, roughly 60 per seat. With sought-after subjects such as law in the same pool, the fight at the top of the merit list is stiff.

Paper format and marks

None of the reports we verified gives the D unit's marks by subject. What is known is that the frame matches CU's other units — a one-hour, 100-mark MCQ. For the exact split, use the circular or last year's question paper.

Departments reached through unit D

Geography and psychology belong to a science faculty yet are reached through D, not A — a science student who wants either must apply to unit D as well. Our sources do not give per-department seats.

GPA and last year’s turnout

For 2025-26 the D unit floor was lowered from GPA 8.0 to 7.5. Students with SSC 2022/2023 and HSC 2024/2025 could apply. Prothom Alo and The Daily Campus give different accounts of whether 20 GPA marks are added.

Preparing for a mixed unit

1. Bangladesh and world affairs, the basics of the constitution and current economics serve both the social-science and law ends of the unit.
2. Keep English and Bangla strong; whatever the split, language questions feature in nearly every general unit.
3. The B unit is on 5 February; sitting both means back-to-back days, so plan your rest.
