CU B2 Sub-unit 2026-27: Arabic, Islamic Studies and Pali

CU's B2 sub-unit sits on 4 February 2027 and admits to three departments: Arabic, Islamic Studies and Pali. This year's notice names B1 and D1 as campus-only but is unclear about B2's venue; in 2025-26 all three sub-units were held on campus alone.

The competition is moderate. In 2025-26, 4,849 applications came in for 280 places — 17 per seat, against roughly 100 in the main B unit. For a student set on the arts faculty, B2 is a realistic second application.

How the paper is built

We could not find B2's subject-by-subject mark split in any report we could verify, so the table is not filled with a guess. For preparation it is reasonable to expect that a grounding in Bangla, English and general knowledge will still pay off — but that is our advice, not the university's statement.

Three departments, three traditions

The three departments shared 280 places in 2025-26; our sources do not break that down by department.

• Arabic — language, literature and translation, where a madrasa background helps.
• Islamic Studies — history, philosophy and legal theory.
• Pali — the language of the Buddhist canon, one of the rarer subjects on offer.

Eligibility and fee

Under 2025-26's general terms, SSC 2022/2023 and HSC 2024/2025 passers could apply, second-timers included. Each sub-unit cost BDT 1,000 to apply, with a further BDT 1,000 for a GCE equivalence certificate. Look up B2's own GPA condition in the circular.

Planning B2 alongside the B unit

1. B2 (4 February) and B (5 February) fall on consecutive days — let one preparation serve both.
2. If Arabic or Islamic Studies is the aim, revise basic grammar and terms at Alim level.
3. For Pali, read up on Buddhist history and the main facts of ancient South Asian history.
4. Until the venue is confirmed, assume the campus and plan travel accordingly.
