JnU B Unit Admission 2026-27: Arts and Law Test on 15 January

JnU’s B unit — the Faculty of Arts and the Faculty of Law — sits its 2026-27 test on 15 January 2027, 10 to 11 AM, in Dhaka. You need a combined SSC + HSC GPA of 6.0 with at least 2.75 in each; last year the bar was 6.50 and 3.00.
For all the lowered bar, this is JnU’s most crowded unit. In 2025-26, 79,807 people applied for 785 seats — more than a hundred per place. Aiming at law or English means building English and general knowledge first, since nearly everyone does well in Bangla.

What the paper covers
In 2025-26 the B unit MCQ drew on three parts: Bangla, English and general knowledge. Across JnU the paper was 96 questions at 0.75 marks each, plus 10 marks from SSC GPA and 18 from HSC GPA. How the questions were split between the three parts is not in the sources we checked.
Last year produced two versions of the negative-marking rule — no deduction, or 0.25 per wrong answer. Treat it as unsettled and hold back on questions you are unsure of.
Seats and turnout (2025-26)
Even counting only those who turned up, that is 86 candidates per place. The B unit test slipped a week, from 23 to 30 January, and its result came just three days later.

The department seats are an admission aggregator’s list rather than the circular — confirm them before you apply.
If you want law or English
Law and English fill at the very top of the list. Bangla grammar and literature scores bunch together, so the gap opens in English vocabulary and grammar and in general knowledge, current affairs included. DU’s arts, law and social science test falls on 19 December; you then have four weeks — spend them on your weakest part.
Our sources do not say whether music or theatre add a practical or oral stage; if either is on your list, look for special conditions in the circular.
