RU B Unit Admission 2026-27: The Business Test on 8 January

Rajshahi University’s 2026-27 tests open with the B unit — the Faculty of Business Studies and IBA-RU — on a proposed date of 8 January 2027. Last year this unit sat last, on 24 January 2026, so the order has been turned around.
What sets this unit apart is its two question papers: business students answer accounting and management questions, while science and humanities students sit a paper built around general knowledge with maths and economics. Of 564 seats, 375 go to business students, 158 to science and 31 to humanities.

Marks on the two papers
Both papers are 100 marks — 80 MCQs in one hour, pass mark 40. The sources disagree on negative marking: Prothom Alo gives 0.25 for every unit, while The Daily Campus reports 0.20 for B. Follow whatever the admit card or the paper’s own instructions say on the day.

Who can apply
In 2025-26 HSC passers from 2024 and 2025 could apply, second-timers included. Prothom Alo’s summary sets 3.00 in each of SSC and HSC and 7.00 combined for business and humanities students, and 3.50 each with 8.00 combined for science.
Where the B unit seats are
The B unit admits to the departments of the Faculty of Business Studies and to IBA-RU. The 2025-26 split of 564 seats leaves real room for science students — 158 seats — but only 31 for humanities.
Last year’s applications and competition
Among business students there were about 49 per seat; across the other two streams together, about 66 — so coming in from outside commerce is the harder route.

Which way to prepare
- Business students: treat the 50 marks of accounting and management as your base, and answer the 15-mark optional section in whichever of the two subject pairs you took at HSC.
- Science and humanities students: the 50-mark general knowledge section includes maths and economics, so revise percentages, profit and loss, and basic supply and demand.
- English is 25 marks on both papers — the one level field for everyone, and a lead here moves you well up the list.
- As the opening test, it deserves full mock tests through December; if you also sit C the next day, keep the two preparations separate.
