MIST Admission 2026-27: Test Dates, Eligibility, Mark Distribution and Fee

The Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) holds its 2026-27 admission tests on 18 and 19 December 2026. Science (Unit C) sits on the morning of the 18th; Engineering (Unit A) and Architecture (Unit B) share the morning and afternoon of the 19th. Application dates, fees and eligibility have not been announced yet.

Notice how the calendar has moved: last cycle Engineering and Architecture sat on 27 December while the new Science unit waited until 31 January. This time Science comes more than a month earlier, on the day before Engineering. The eligibility, marks and fees below all belong to the 2025-26 cycle, so compare them against the new circular once it appears.

Engineering and Architecture eligibility (2025-26)

The 18-point HSC rule is often misread. Four subjects can earn at most 20 points, so you may be short by two at most — a 4.0 in English with 5.0 in the other three gives 19, which qualifies. A 3.5 in physics, though, rules you out however high the total, because each of the three science subjects needs its own 4.0.

Last cycle both the HSC 2024 and 2025 batches were allowed in, so MIST does take second attempts — but a repeat candidate loses 5% of the score. If the rule is kept, the pass years may shift forward by one this time; treat that as an assumption until the circular confirms it.

How Units A and B are marked

Unit A’s 200 marks are now split maths 80, physics 60, chemistry 40 and English 20, with 40% needed to qualify. Plenty of online guides still show the old 90-70-30-10 split — follow it and you under-prepare chemistry and English, which together are now worth 60 marks, one and a half times their former weight.

Architecture’s Unit B is also out of 200, but it is not a subject paper: it tests freehand drawing and visual-spatial ability. Sketching practice and the habit of picturing a solid object from different sides help here more than textbook revision.

The new Science unit (Unit C)

In 2026 MIST admitted to two science programmes outside engineering for the first time: BSc Mathematics & Data Science and BSc Chemistry & Nanoscience. The rules differ sharply from Unit A — the entry bar is lower and the paper is entirely MCQ.

Unit C adds 20 marks from SSC and HSC results to the merit list, so a strong GPA counts directly here.

Application fees and choosing a unit

With Unit C and Unit A on consecutive days this year, anyone sitting both has to plan revision for the two together — the syllabus is the same HSC science, only the question style and weighting change. Adding Architecture cost just Tk 200 more last time, which is worth it if you enjoy drawing.
