RU C Unit Admission 2026-27: The Science Test on 9 January

Rajshahi University’s science unit, C, sits on 9 January 2027 on the proposed schedule — the day after the B unit. It is the single route into 26 departments across seven faculties, including science, life science, agriculture, engineering and geosciences.
Competition is sharpest here of RU’s three units: 126,225 applications for 1,536 seats in 2025-26, about 82 per seat. Students from other streams may sit too, but only three departments and 40 seats are open to them.

How the C unit paper is split
The reported figures are question counts; each question carries 1.25 marks, so the brackets convert them to marks. The last 25 questions give three routes: all maths, all biology, or 13 maths plus 12 biology. Check which subject your target departments require before choosing a route.
The paper runs for one hour and the pass mark is 40. On negative marking two sources disagree — Prothom Alo says 0.25, The Daily Campus 0.20 for C. The gap is small but it changes the arithmetic of guessing, so read the paper’s instructions.

Eligibility and the door for other streams
In 2025-26 science students needed 3.50 in each of SSC and HSC and 8.00 combined, with HSC from 2024 or 2025 and second attempts allowed. Rank comes from the test score alone; nothing is added from GPA.
Humanities and business students who sit C can only enter three departments: Physical Education and Sports Science, Geography and Environmental Studies, and Psychology. Forty seats in all were set aside for them.

The unit held 1,536 seats — 1,496 for science students and 40 for the rest. The report broke out five of the seven faculties, which add to 1,436; the other two faculties’ seats were not shown separately.

Applications in 2025-26
The other-stream figures are striking: 5,387 candidates for 40 seats, about 135 per seat — steeper than for science students. A humanities student aiming at psychology or geography through C should sit the A unit as well.

Preparing for the C unit
- Settle in week one which route you will take for the last 25 questions — maths, biology or mixed — then prepare fully along it.
- ICT is only five questions but easy marks: number systems, logic gates and networking basics take two days to secure.
- Eighty questions in sixty minutes is 45 seconds each. When a physics calculation stalls, mark it and come back.
- RUET tests in Rajshahi on 14 January; if you sit both, give the five days after C entirely to RUET’s written format.
