MIST Unit B Admission 2026-27: Architecture and the Drawing Test

Architecture at MIST means Unit B — tested on 19 December 2026 for 2026-27, the same day as Unit A. As admission guides describe it, Unit B is the full 200-mark Unit A paper in maths, physics, chemistry and English plus a separate 200-mark drawing and visual-spatial section; that structure could not be confirmed in the official circular. Application dates and the fee have not been announced.

Last time the drawing session itself moved: in 2025-26 the second part of the architecture test was shifted at Dhaka University’s request to 28 December 2025, 3 to 5 PM (The Daily Campus, 22 December 2025). So even with 19 December announced, treat the admit card’s timetable as the final word.

How Unit B is marked

If the guides’ structure holds, drawing is half of Unit B’s total. Someone with a middling Unit A score can overtake others in architecture through a strong drawing part — and the reverse is just as true. Last time the drawing ran as its own session, so plan rest and food between the two sittings on test day.

Eligibility and fee

Unit B’s academic conditions are reported as the same as Unit A’s: science stream, SSC GPA 4.0 and minimum HSC grades in maths, physics and chemistry (as reported for 2025-26). There is no separate drawing prerequisite — the test itself measures that.

Fee: the guides give Tk 1,400 for Unit B in 2025-26, against Tk 1,200 reported by Prothom Alo for 2024-25. In both years it was Tk 200 above Unit A — the price of the drawing section.

The programme it leads to

Unit B is the route into MIST’s undergraduate architecture degree (Bachelor of Architecture). Seats are not listed here because the published numbers conflict; check the circular on the MIST portal. Architecture is a long, studio-driven course, so choose this unit out of real interest, not merely as a fallback for a rank.

Competition, and fitting it around other architecture tests

No verifiable applicant or per-seat figure has been published for Unit B. The real pressure lies elsewhere: many universities run architecture drawing tests, and last cycle a clash with DU forced MIST to move its own session. CUET’s Group B also carries a 200-mark freehand drawing test, tentatively on 23 January 2027.

Getting ready for the drawing part

1. Thirty minutes of freehand sketching every day — rooms, streets, people — training straight lines and proportion without a ruler.
2. Master one- and two-point perspective; it is close to guaranteed in architecture drawing questions.
3. Visual-spatial items: unfolding, rotating and viewing 3D objects from other sides — practise with puzzle books.
4. The written part is Unit A’s paper, so keep maths and physics going; give two days a week wholly to drawing and the rest to subjects.
5. Before the day, pack your own familiar set of pencils (HB to 4B), eraser and sharpener.
