CU A Unit Admission 2026-27: The Science Test on 30 January

Chittagong University's A unit — its science unit — sits on 30 January 2027, the day after the business unit opens the season. That single test is the door to four faculties: Science, Biological Science, Engineering, and Marine Sciences & Fisheries. Applications run from 15 November to 10 December 2026, with centres in Chattogram, Dhaka and Rajshahi.

By seats it is also the biggest unit CU runs. In 2025-26 its 1,093 places drew roughly 87,695 applications, close to 80 per seat. Of the 79,410 who turned up, 41,609 passed — about 52% — so clearing the pass line is the easy half; the merit list is drawn far above it.

Subject marks: English is fixed, the other three are yours to pick

Dropping one of the four sciences is what sets this unit apart. Weak in biology? Keep maths. Afraid of maths? Keep biology. Make that call now rather than in the exam hall, so every revision hour goes to the three you will actually answer. Whether any department later insists on a particular subject score is something to confirm in the detailed circular.

Who may apply

In 2025-26 candidates with SSC from 2022 or 2023 and HSC from 2024 or 2025 were eligible, so second-timers could sit. The A unit minimum was cut from GPA 8.5 to 8.0, provided SSC was at least 4.0 and HSC at least 3.0. The 2026-27 years and floors will come in the new circular.

One point is disputed. Prothom Alo reported a 120-mark total — 100 MCQ plus 20 from GPA — while The Daily Campus reported that no GPA marks were added in 2025-26. Which applies this year is for the circular to settle.

Last cycle: competition and result

After the result, a re-check of OMR sheets affected 17 scripts, Ittefaq reported. Careless bubbling and a mis-written roll or set code do cost real marks, so practise your mocks on a proper OMR sheet as well.

Where the A unit leads

We have not found a verified department-by-department seat list; the 1,093 places are shared across these four faculties. If marine science is what draws you, this is the unit that reaches it.

A plan that runs to late January

1. In December, fix your three sciences and list every HSC chapter in each.
2. Keep three weekly sessions for English grammar and vocabulary — not every rival prepares those 25 marks equally.
3. From early January, sit a timed one-hour, 100-question mock daily, scored with the negative marking.
4. If you also sit CUET (23 January) or SUST, plan one stay in Chattogram to cover them.
